Made as a deliberate tribute to the late James Krenov, this cabinet was made from a flitch of boards from the same Swiss Pear tree and some bookmatched, highly figured Curly Black Walnut veneers. Inside the cabinet is a central vertical divider and four adjustable glass shelves to allow for flexible storage solutions. The back panel of the cabinet is a solid timber frame and panel assembly. The curved edging on the base and top of the cabinet is a changing-radius profile and was shaped at the bench with a hand plane. The base structure has been reinforced with pinned and wedged tenons in Walnut and Maple, providing enormous structural integrity and some fine detailing. The cabinet is finished in hand rubbed shellac and wax, the base in Danish oil. Approximately 1600x2400x300mm.
