I enjoy crafting unique, functional, one-off pieces with a story to tell. I'm environmentally concerned and like the idea of giving things another chance at life. The use of recycled timber is central to my work.
There's nothing perfect about my aesthetic, although nothing is left to chance. I like to highlight experiences of the past and strive to combine this with a quality in construction and design to stand the test of time.
I'm inspired by mid century design mostly, but contemporary and industrial design as well. I particularly admire the work of designers such as Poul Cardovious, Albert Hansen and Kai Kristiansen, to name but a few.
How I go about creating pieces for people is as important as the piece itself. I'm a collector of materials carrying a sense of history. It becomes even more attractive to me if I feel I'm saving something from landfill or a fiery demise. I like to bring elements together in order to create something "new" and often the choices to be made are influenced by the collaborative conversations I get to have with the people I make for. I do feel that my best work comes from this dynamic.
My goal is to creatively bring together the funky and functional in pieces utilizing materials that are at least 90% recovered. To this end, my work is based on the simple principle of pursuing environmental friendliness through second chance.
Thanks for taking the time to look at what I'm about!
Best regards
Trevor
