Stance Studio is the work of Melbourne-based architect Sanderson Bell.

Tasmanian born and bred, Sandy moved to Melbourne in 2010 to study architectural design at Monash University.

Working within the School of Fine Art in parallel to architectural studies, his interest in furniture and object design emerged. Explorations in sculpture with materials such as bronze and glass led to more functional furniture pieces using primarily timber, steel and concrete.

Stance Studio strives to operate in the most sustainable way. Using reclaimed materials and thoughtful production techniques wherever possible ensures minimal impact on the environment and the ability to provide people with an affordable way to bring truly bespoke, architect-designed work into their homes.

All pieces are created with bundles of care in Sandy's small Clifton Hill workshop, where accessibility and considered detail are core to all Stance Studio pieces.

At the heart of the Stance Studio mission is that spaces matter - almost as much as the things we do in them. The way we create them and what we fill them with have profound effects on our experiences. When you walk into a room, how does it make you feel? What does it make you want to do? Or think? Most people don't realise how much the spaces around them affect them. The decisions we make around the spaces we spend our lives in are crucial.
