Harper Design is the workshop practice of Canberra based designer and maker Nicholas Harper.
Nick is multi-skilled with training in designing and making furniture and objects in wood and metal. He is a graduate of the ANU Wood Workshop where he studied under the late George Ingham. He also completed a traineeship in Gold and Silversmithing at Workshop Bilk with Helen Aitken-Kuhnen and Johannes Kuhnen.
Nick now uses his combined skills to design and make a range of objects including solid timber furniture, built-in cabinetry and tableware. Nick enjoys making and using hand tools. He is interested in traditional techniques and prefers to manufacture his own work.
As a designer-maker, he aims to create work that is elgent, tactile and practical.
Harper Design currently operates out of the shared workshop Six Wiluna.
