After a 20 year career as an architect I become a Furniture Designer-Maker to follow my passion for furniture and design. My furniture design and making practise specialises in combining contemporary design with traditional craftsmanship. I use traditional joinery and cabinet making techniques alongside modern technologies, such as CNC routing and laser cutting, to produce high quality bespoke handmade contemporary furniture.
I believe furniture should primarily be functional incorporating clean simple lines and organic forms. Texture is also an important feature of my work. This can be inherent in the material, created by combining materials or as an outcome of the production process.
I design and handcraft both fine furniture and commercial furniture and lighting. Typically my fine furniture is produced as one-off commissions and my commercial furniture in limited production runs, but all my work can be designed and handmade to suit individual or market requirements. From the experience gained in my 20 year architectural career I am able to offer a full bespoke design and making service from initial concept through to final production.
Having been a member of Splinter Workshop in Sydney since 2011, I have recently relocated to Brisbane where I have opened my own workshop.
