Bluethumb & Handkrafted have come together to launch\u00a0Created with Care –\u00a0a pairing of talented Australian makers and artists who have collaborated on one-of-a-kind pieces for charity.<\/em><\/p>\n

Together with our friends at Bluethumb<\/a>, Australia’s leading online art marketplace, we are very proud to launch Created with Care<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

With a shared emphasis on supporting and showcasing hundreds of local artisans, we have paired a selection of Australian furniture makers and artists to collaborate on truly unique pieces for charity. All individuals involved generously donated their time and talents in a labour of love, creating incredible one-offs that will be auctioned off with 100% of proceeds donated to local charities selected by each collaboration.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were blown away by the collaborators\u2019 generosity,\u201d says Ed Hartley, Bluethumb\u2019s co-founder. \u201cWhen you know how hard professional artists and makers work just to make ends meet and put food on the table, you begin to understand the selflessness of this act. It is the most inspiring project we\u2019ve ever undertaken at Bluethumb.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Josh<\/a><\/p>\n

2015 Archibald finalist Kim Leutwyler and maker Josh Pinkus\u2019s surprise collaboration produced this masterpiece, raising money to save dogs.<\/em><\/p>\n

Ed and Handkrafted founder Fred Kimel are both believers in the notions that partnership allows for the greatest impact, and we can do more together than we can alone. The two share a mutual respect for each other\u2019s platform, and see great importance in collaboration among businesses and startups in particular.<\/p>\n

We saw this collaboration as a wonderful opportunity to focus the lens on how individuals and organisations across Australia can work together to drive change \u2026 one masterpiece at a time, one community at a time.\u00a0Their enthusiasm for partnerships is clear. \u201cWhile it may sound a little clich\u00e9d,\u201d says Fred, \u201ccollaboration is paramount to the success of every business and individual \u2013 it\u2019s so important to take the time out to reflect upon and approach potential collaborators to discuss ideas and opportunities. It\u2019s also much more fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Rainy<\/a><\/p>\n

Artist Erin Nicholls and maker Lars Laug\u2019s three dimensional painting is raising money for\u00a0artists with an intellectual disability.<\/em><\/p>\n

Created with Care<\/em> stunned everyone involved\u00a0in both the awe-inspiring combinations, and the immense thoughtfulness of the artists\u00a0and makers\u00a0in selecting a charity. \u201cI am staggered at the outcome,\u201d says Ed. \u201cEvery day I look at incredible art, yet these pieces are beyond my greatest expectations. They have set the bar for future artists and crafters. What\u2019s beautiful to see is their own art and trade has transferred so well across mediums and captured the essence of their style.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Flex<\/a><\/p>\n

Proceeds for\u00a0maker Ben Percy, and artist Salleigh Olsen\u2019s Flex Chair\u00a0will go to\u00a0StreetWork, a Sydney based charity helping \u201cat risk\u201d\u00a0young people.<\/em><\/p>\n

Bombora Furniture Co<\/a>.\u2019s Luke Collins, and Bluethumb artist partner, Tanya Keenan<\/a> nominated Spirit Foundation, a charity trust which has been supporting the Wye River and Separation Creek communities that were devastated by recent bushfires. The collaborative piece is aptly named \u2018Wye River Buffet<\/a>\u2019 and is a beautiful story of a hyper-local connection: two Victorian talents working together on a piece to support a charity that hits close to home \u2013 that\u2019s the reason the initiative came to fruition in the first place.<\/p>\n

Similarly, the proceeds of Stephen Ziguras and Anne Ellison\u2019s Tegl Bowl <\/a>will go to a cause close to their hearts. \u201cProceeds from our work will go to Foundation House, the Victorian Foundation for the Survivors of Torture,\u201d says Stephen. \u201dThey help refugees and asylum seekers who have been through the most awful trauma to start a new life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many of the collaborations have been made possible by the generous donation of timber by Britton Timbers. \u201c Their sponsorship of the timber for this initiative reflects their commitment to supporting local furniture makers and their communities,\u201d explains Fred.<\/p>\n

The Created with Care <\/em>auction is open and final bids must be received before 5pm Friday 10th<\/sup> June. There are three more collaborations in progress to be revealed over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n
