A\u00a0behind-the-scenes peek at\u00a0our exciting collaboration with Jacob’s Creek to promote their Double Barrel series. The experts behind Australia’s largest wine brand\u00a0team up with one of our\u00a0makers to create a handcrafted\u00a0wine rack (from reclaimed barrels used in the wine making process, no less).<\/em><\/p>\n

What do timber, whisky, and red wine have in common? They all\u00a0grow better with age.<\/p>\n

…and we reckon that’s why the wine experts behind\u00a0Jacob’s Creek approached us for their new Double Barrel<\/a> campaign. With over 160 years of wine making under their belt, the people behind Australia’s largest wine brand\u00a0echo Handkrafted’s\u00a0desire\u00a0to\u00a0create a unique experience that\u00a0our customers cherish\u00a0for the ages.<\/p>\n

So, when they came to us wanting to connect with a maker\u00a0to create a bespoke\u00a0piece reminiscent of the unique way the wine is crafted and aged, we couldn’t turn down the offer. Avid appreciators\u00a0of reclaimed timber and sustainably made products ourselves, we gravitated towards the innovative concept behind Double Barrel, with wines\u00a0finished\u00a0in old\u00a0whisky barrels that would have otherwise been discarded.<\/p>\n

Ian Monty, a Handkrafted maker who works out of the stunning\u00a0Splinter Workshop<\/a> cooperative in St Peters, perfectly fit the bill. The space used to house\u00a0a Taubmans Paint factory several\u00a0years ago,\u00a0and\u00a0now serves as the home to many creative businesses including Ian’s.\u00a0In cahoots with this coming of age tale, the workshop provided a sentimental backdrop for a story promoting\u00a0a new twist on the old.<\/p>\n

While Ian worked, an incredible fragrance and deep\u00a0burgundy colour filled the room. The footage captured during the process beautifully illustrates the craftsmanship and precision required in creating a one-off bespoke piece. Ian’s skill\u00a0stands out against\u00a0the finished product’s simple design. And of course, as with all of our makers’ creations<\/a>, the Double Barrel wine rack\u00a0was imbued with passion and sentiment.<\/p>\n

Utilising the timber\u00a0from reclaimed\u00a0wine\u00a0barrels, Ian crafted a lovely wine rack and\u00a0breathed new life into wood\u00a0that would’ve otherwise ended up in the bin. Salvaged\u00a0materials like these receive extensive praise and use\u00a0by\u00a0our makers<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0Unlike the wood of\u00a0freshly cut\u00a0trees,\u00a0reclaimed\u00a0timbers bring with them the sentimental value of\u00a0their past lives. Not to mention, it’s a sustainable<\/a>\u00a0alternative!<\/p>\n
