Born and raised in TASMANIA, Alex has a strong passion for design and living spaces. This passion reflects in his work by creating furniture and objects that contribute to a space in a meaningful and harmonious way. Alex sees furniture design not only as dealing with isolated objects, but how these objects can have relationships and create atmospheres in the living spaces they inhabit.

His initial attraction to making and timber craft comes from time spent with his Grandfathers as a child, trips to the hardware store and helping them in their workshops. This passion did not initially draw him to a career in furniture, and after completing a Bachelor of Business and working in different business roles over a number of years, Alex finally got the chance to follow his passion of design and making and has now completed a Bachelor of Environmental Design (Furniture Design) at the University of Tasmania.

His view that design theory and research plays a key role in the design process of objects and spaces, means that he is currently completing his Honours in Environmental Design at the University of Tasmania researching the psychology of design in residential spaces and how furniture and objects relate to this.
