This was a commissioned piece for Delilah's Kitchen which is a real sweet little pizza joint around the corner from the workshop. Good people, amazing food.

They came to me with some references of a herringbone or chevron type patterned trestle table but those aren't patterns I naturally feel inclined to do. Some patterns aren't your's to play with - they sort of feel like a white guy playing a didgeridoo (and lord knows there are a thousand chevron pallet wood tables out there at the moment).

It just didn't feel like something that I would make off my own bat. Kylie and Eamon were really great with giving me a freedom to go off and follow my own instincts - my own aesthetic is what attracted them to my work in the first place and they ended up with this piece which I went through every emotion to make. Love, love, love, hate, hate, hate, doubt, doubt, doubt and then nothing but love and pride. That journey is harrowing but also why it looks like it does and is a really good example of what a commissioned, bespoke piece of furniture should be. Unique and perfectly suited.
